The 2011 Carousel Music Theater Cast
Kristofer
Because Kristofer Holz has few mathematical abilities and possesses only 10 fingers, he is no longer able to count the number of years it has been since he 1st appeared at the Carousel as but a wee, wee lad barely sprung from the crib. That said, he is beyond delighted to be back! A NYC based stage actor, he was recently seen as Costa in the award winning “Opa! The Musical”, in New York, and before that as Vinnie in The Skinner Barn’s marvelous production of “Lucky Stiff” in Vermont. Previously, his other professional credits include what now seems an almost endless series of productions of “1776” including a run at the famed “Goodspeed Opera House” (he swung that one, but usually he has appeared as Edward Rutledge) as well as 2 LONG runs of “Fiddler On the Roof” (Perchik once, and 3rrd prayer shawl-from-the-left the other time) and “Oklahoma” (Curly, both times) as well as a large slew of other plays and musicals all having one virtue in common: None of them demanded that he dance much. Or well.
Thanks so much to Robb and Dominic for letting him come back, (against what must have been their almost surely better judgments) and to his amazing family and gorgeous friends for the thousand and one ways they have loved, cared for and supported him these many years, and who all know they had better come up and see him perform at the Carousel or retribution shall be sure, just and terribly swift!;) Alona
Alona Metcalf, is happy to being joining Carousel Music Theater for her first summer in Maine. She is a North Carolina native and graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. For the past year and a half, she has been pounding the pavement in New York City and recently finished a production of the play, "Balm in Gilead" with Terry Schreiber Studios. Other credits include: Consuelo in West Side Story (Ravinia Festival). Favorite roles include: Illona in Game of Love, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, and Giannetta in Elixir of Love. She is ever grateful for the the love and support of her family and friends back home. Danilo, ti amo.
Chris
Christopher is excited to come back to the Carousel Music Theater for his second straight season! A native of New Jersey, Christopher studied Acting and Musical Theater at Marymount Manhattan College in NYC, and Voice at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. Some of his favorite roles include Tony (West Side Story), Jack (Into The Woods), Czolgosz (Assassins), and Bud Frump (How To Succeed…), for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ. In one of his first professional jobs as an actor, Christopher portrayed Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island, which incorporated American Sign Language, which inspired him to study ASL. In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family (especially his dog!), playing and watching sports, jamming out on his piano, and making an absolute fool out of himself. An ENORMOUS thanks to Robb and the crew for giving me this opportunity again, and to his wonderful and supportive family and friends, especially his Mother and Father. ‘Damn All The Odds’!

Laura
Laura Black lives in New York City and is excited to be making her Carousel Music Theater debut. She began studying music at an early age and has won awards and scholarships that allowed her to study across the country. Laura has been seen performing musical theatre, opera and oratorio. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Music from the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she performed with A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, Piedmont Opera Theatre and the Winston-Salem Symphony. Laura received her Masters degree in Musical Theatre/Opera Performance from Arizona State University, where she performed with the Lyric Opera Theatre and Arizona Broadway Theatre. Some favorite roles include Julie in Carousel, Graziella in West Side Story, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi.
Samantha
Beginning with her rendition of "A Partridge in a Pear Tree" at a winter pageant in Preschool, Samantha's proclivity for singing was apparent to all (mostly because she was the only one in her class who could be heard singing on key at the age of 4). Ever since then, she has been singing, acting and dancing in such shows as Oliver (for which she won a Best Actress Helen Hayes Theatre Award for her portrayal of Nancy), Peter Pan (Peter Pan), The Serpent (First Woman), The Wiz (Tinman), Cabaret (Fraulien Kost), Measure for Measure (Mariana), and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Titania). While earning her BFA at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, she studied musical theatre, dance, film and classical text. In New York City, she originated the role of "The Queen" in the first staged performance of What Fairytale is this Anyway? Samantha has musical directed 2 shows and accompanied other smaller performances on piano. She has also studied and sang operatic text in Latin, French and Italian, as well as been a member of 4 New York State choirs. In addition to her work as an artist Samantha enjoys taking walks, writing, cooking, reading, playing guitar, skiing and growing vegetables in her garden. A special thanks must be paid to Tessa, without whom I would not have the joy, courage or ability to sing truly from the heart.
